The death has taken place in Belfast of Frances McCarthy (née Lowry) who represented the Workers' Party
in a number of elections in the Lagan Valley constituency. Aged 55 she had been ill for some time.
Frances and her husband Brendan were both longtime members of the Workers' Party, her brother John is the
party's General Secretary and brother Pat is also a longtime party member. She was a lifelong trade unionist and
member of the UNISON trade union.
Frances is survived by husband Brendan, sons Conor, Brendan (jr) and Sean and daughter Fiona as well as
her mother, brothers, sisters and extended family.
Her funeral Mass will be at St. Paul's Church, Falls Road, Belfast at 9.00am tomorrow (Saturday) followed
by a service and cremation at Roselawn Crematorium.
The Ard Comhairle of the Workers' Party extend our deepest condolences to our comrades in the Lowry and
McCarthy families and to all of Frances' family and friends.
